Project Overview
This project proposes a comprehensive methodology for planning and implementing microgrids and nanogrids in smart cities, focused on Internet of Things solutions. The proposed methodology identifies the most suitable locations for deployment, determines the characteristics and quantities of required components, and integrates Internet of Things technologies and Geographic Information Systems for real-time monitoring. The approach also includes an evaluation of microgrids and nanogrids, ensuring continuity of essential services during emergencies. In addition, the project provides a flexible methodology that can be replicated across different urban zones and promotes sustainability through the use of renewable energy sources.
Objectives
- Dynamically build maps indicating locations that most require micro/nanogrid deployment;
- Characterize the energy generation potential of the regions identified for micro/nanogrid deployment;
- Propose micro/nanogrid planning in terms of components, their connections, and network energy load;
- Ensure increased resilience and sustainability through the deployment of the proposed micro/nanogrids;
- Provide a use case to validate the proposed methodology.
